Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Not only for counting our blessings, but I enjoy cooking and sharing the meal with family and friends. In addition to the turkey and fabulous desserts, one of my faves is cranberry sauce. Not the canned kind, but the real stuff!
I’ve overheard people in the grocery store before saying “Oh, don’t buy real cranberries, they’re too hard to deal with”- This is absolutely not true!
All you have to do is boil one cup of water with one cup of sugar according to package directions- I don’t add all that sugar because I like the tartness - only about 1/2 cup of sugar- then you add the bag of cranberries. They pop open and create a sauce as they thicken. This takes only minutes. Then you can add things like orange zest or a little nutmeg. The cranberry sauce thickens more as it cools. Delicious!!! It’s even good on turkey sandwiches the next day!
Happy Thanksgiving!
