After a recent conversation with a homeowner here on Isle of Palms, I realized that many people don’t view realtors in the best light. Some think that all realtors do is put a sign in the yard, put the home on MLS and sit back and wait, then get paid a lot of money for doing basically nothing when the house sells.
I have to admit that years ago, I felt some of the same sentiments. As my husband and I searched for a larger home, we met our fair share of realtors that didn’t listen, didn’t know anything about the properties they were representing, didn’t answer their phones or return phone calls…… This led me to go from being a pharmacist, one of the most trusted professions year after year, to becoming a realtor, a profession that doesn’t always rank so highly on the trust scale!
My goal is to be much, much more than just a listing agent. I want sellers to feel almost like they have “concierge” style service- once a contract is signed, I expect to take care of everything, from extensive marketing to coordinating showings to being at closing to assisting with moving,…whatever it takes! I’ve been known to run over and turn on lights before a showing, grabbing a broom and tidying up if necessary. I’ve ordered and paid for lawn service for an out of town client with a sick family member so that they had one less thing to worry about.
I still have a few pet peeves. I don’t like when some realtors show one of my properties and don’t give feedback. I don’t like to try and reach someone only to repeatedly get voice mail.
I fully expect to work hard to serve the real estate needs of my clients. I want clients to know that I listen, and that I care….. I’m not in this business to boast about myself and my numbers…I’m in this business to provide absolutely the best service around! I’m available and accountable. It’s what I would expect from a realtor, and it’s what you can expect from me!
